The Lincoln Theatre in Miami Beach has been a mainstay in the city for more than 70 years, depicting the city’s yesteryear and its classic historic design. To this day it still functions as the home of the New World Symphony but things will be changing once a few Miami Beach real estate investors manage to purchase the theatre.

Once the deal is closed next week, the Lincoln Theatre will no longer be under the control of the New World Symphony, it’s currently in the midst of having a brand new building designed and built for them behind the theatre. However, concerts will continue to be held there for another year. The Miami Beach real estate investors who will become the new owners of the Lincoln Theatre instead plan to turn the classic building into several retail stores.

Although the building will be maintaining its unique exterior design, the plan to convert the Lincoln Theatre is not being met without complaints by local preservationists. As for the Miami Beach real estate investors, they feel that a new retail complex will be a good complement to Lincoln Road’s own healthy retail scene. What do you think?
