This month has witnessed some incredible sales in Miami Beach. Rosie O’Donnell’s home sale, Billy Joel home sale, and now a mega sale at 42 La Gorce Circle for $30 million, add to the frantic pace of the Miami Beach real estate marketplace. We featured this listing when it was announced and noted that it would not last. It is a true masterpiece in every sense of the word. Located on a private island of 70,000 square feet, the estate has a main home, guest home, staff quarters, and an additional guard tower. The main home has 8 beds and 9.5 baths and not one but two kitchens for the chef and the family. The staff quarters have two beds and two baths and the guest home has one bed and one bath. Ceilings are handpainted, all finishes are top of the line, and it occupies an incredible near 400 feet of waterfront. Truly unbelievable home, in the best neighborhood.

The transaction took place between two corporate entities that were international, one interest is Canadian and another is European. The seller purchased the property in 2001 for 12.45 million, which represents a substantial gain. La Gorce Island is one of the most desirable areas in South Florida. The views are incomparable with wide vistas of the Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. It is minutes away from the La Gorce Country Club, the only private club in Miami Beach, and is equidistant from the luxury shopping at Bal Harbour and the incredible nightlife and amusements of South Beach at ten minutes drive. The Miami International Airport is a 15 minute drive. For more information on this listing and others on La Gorce Island, contact us today.

Another Star has departed Star Island. Amidst speculation of financial woes surrounding a cancellation of television show, O’Donnell listed her incredible Star Island home on the market for $19.5 million last year. This past week, O’Donnell sold the home for $12.657 million. While this may sound like a considerable drop in price, O’Donnell will still make a substantial profit on the property since she purchased it in 1999 for $6.75 million. It was built in 1923 and since it has been in O’Donnell’s care has been completely updated with the most exquisite updates and furnushings. Her neighbors include, Gloria Estefan, Shaquille O’neal, and Sean Combs.

While there is still no shortage of celebrities on Star Island, this year a number of celebrities are selling off their Miami Beach mansions at a substantial profit to international and cash buyers. Matt Damon, A-Rod, and Bill Joel have sold so far in 2013, and one of the leading reasons is simply that the real estate market in luxury is in high demand and the inventory is extremely limited. Prices have gone up more than 20% in most of the luxury market in Miami Beach, in some areas by more. There are simply not that many markets where homes of this caliber are found and celebrities notice that it is a good time to sell, and make substantial gains. If you are looking to sell an island home in Miami, contact us today for a complimentary market analysis.

Piano Man Billy Joel has recently sold his Miami Beach mansion for just under $14 million. This nearly 9,000 square foot home has 7 bedrooms and 8.5 baths. It was originally purchased by Joel in 2006 for $13.5 million. The home was listed on the market last May for $14.75 million. All things considered including closing costs and brokers fees Joel will have actually lost money on the home, despite the increased value in the area. The new owner is Dego Della Valle, who is the largest shareholder for Saks Fifth Avenue and owner of the brand Tod’s. According to TMZ Valle is worth a reported $1.55 billion, while Joel’s net worth is approximately $160 million. La Gorce Island has been home to a number of  celebrities and some of the most exclusive property in South Florida is located in this small enclave.

Lil Wayne and Cher have both owned homes on La Gorce Island and there are no shortage of incredible estates on the island, there are however a shortage of homes on the island for sale. Its’ location at the tip of Miami Beach and 10 minutes from both Bal Harbour and South Beach, make it one of the most coveted areas in South Florida. Homes are well over the million dollar mark and waterfront homes have stunning and private views of Downtown Miami Skyline and Biscayne Bay. The Miami International Airport is only a 15 minute drive and the executive airports are alsp 15 minutes. Shopping and dining of Bal Harbour and South Beach are so close, yet the beauty of the island and the views feels very residential and private. For more information on homes in La Gorce, please contact us today. If you are looking to sell your La Gorce home, we are pleased to offer listing presentations at your convenience.
